five months

can't believe it has been five months since we first met our little owen. (big sigh.) heres the update... (feel i should warn you...its going to be a long one.)

-smiles and laughs ALL the time. and at EVERYone.
-knows you're coming to play when you say, "i'm gonna get you." and sooooooo loves it.
-has become really interested in hudson (our little chihuahua) and will intently watch as he runs around the house.
-will laugh and smile when hudson licks his hands and feet. (too cute to watch, really!)
-can grab onto his little feet and has started to put them in his mouth. (even cuter.) hes just so fascinated by them.
-will kick and kick to get my attention.
-is always burying his little head in my shoulder. (so so sweet.)
-rubs his eyes when hes really tired or when he first wakes up from a nap. (love this.)
-still fights sleep. and is still having some meltdowns at naptime.
-only wants his momma at night. will cry and cry if daddy tries to put him to sleep. (and he does not give up too easily.)
-is just starting to make some progress on the rice cereal. just a few days ago, he wanted nothing to do with it.
-has started to get on his own little schedule. cereal, followed by bath at 7. bedtime between 8 and 9. and three to four naps a day.
-lays in his little sleeper in the morning and talks to himself. (so fun to listen to.)
-looooves to listen to me sing. (completely out of tune.) twinkle twinkle little star seems to soothe him.
-smiles and gets excited for the itsy bitsy spider, patty cake, and the abc's.
-looooves the song "jungle gym" from jack johnson's curious george cd. will almost always quiet him in the car.
-his preferred method of communication: screams. (happy and mad ones.)
-doesn't like to be burped. or to be in the upright, over your shoulder position.
-always has his two fingers in his mouth.
-pays attention to his peekaboo books. likes the flaps and being surprised. (thanks to the astartitas.)
-has gotten really good at reaching out and grabbing things. especially mommy and daddys hair. (and grandma bonnies too.)
-can hold onto his paci and will try to put it in his mouth. (it even works sometimes.)
-puts EVERYTHING in his mouth. (and i mean everything.)
-a few of his favorites: his stuffed octopus, his crab rattle, his soft teether book, his bear rattle, and his lobster teether.
-plays in his jumperoo. (so cute to watch as his little legs run and jump.)
-knows that if he spins the ball with the lizard, the little balls inside will move. (so learning cause and effect.)
-loves to be outside. calms him everytime. will just stare up at the trees.
-loves bathtime and will kick and splash like crazy. (hes quickly outgrowing his froggie tub.)
-likes taking showers with mommy and daddy too.
-is getting better at rolling from his tummy to his back. he can even roll over while hes on the floor now.
-still not a big fan of being on his belly.
-has managed to roll up onto his side a few times.
-is still trying REALLY hard to sit up.
-likes to have his little feet kissed. his neck kissed. and his belly kissed. (and i love it too.)
-smiles real big when daddy flies him around the house and does the rocket ship. (they're pals.)
-laughs when you make funny faces and noises.
-and is getting WAY TOO big. TOO fast.

so theres the update. so much this month. so many QUIRKY things that i love about little owen.
ITS GOOD TO BE A MOMMA!

(and a big thanks to grandma jan and grandpa scott for the owen onesie. he looks so cute in it, doesnt he? we're so lovin the little uni shirts around here.)
