3 years today

it was on a beautiful day in july, 3 years ago, that i married the sweetest and most handsome man in the world. i love you more and more each day, adam. happy anniversary.
and in other 'owen news'...he had applesauce for the first time yesterday and it was a big hit.

look who turned six months old today...

yep, thats right...its owens half year birthday today. cant believe it...feeling kinda sad and happy all at the same time. its definitely been bittersweet. loved the newborn stage, but so excited for whats to come.
so here he is...at 6 wonderful months:
-is sitting up on his own for short periods of time.
-is lovin his solids. especially sweet potoatoes and pears.
-is starting to fall into his own little routine. two naps a day in his co-sleeper and three meals a day.
-covers his face with his arm or with his blanket when he is tired.
-has found his thumb.
-is teething...i think.
-can transfer an object from one hand to the next.
-knows that if he shakes his rattle or his little clacker, it will make noise.
-cries if you take away his toy.
-will lunge forward if he wants something.
-wants to touch and grab at EVERYTHING. he has already broken two of mommys ice cream bowls.
-has a thing for pop cans, mommys cell phone, and a certain vanilla candle thats always on the dining room table.
-loves to touch faces. especially his daddys.
-still puts everything in his mouth.
-loves swimming in the pool at grandma bonnie and grandpa dougs.
-watches his "baby moves" baby einstein dvd. thanks grandma jan.
-loves trees and plants and flowers. especially the lilac tree in our backyard. and daddys "prize" hydrangeas.
-is still as smiley as ever. his doctors appointment is on tuesday, so i'll be back then with the update. cant wait to find out how much he has grown.

pears + carrots

owen is still moving right along with his solid foods. we did three days of pears, which adam thinks is owens new favorite, and today he had carrots for the first time...loved those too. hes such a good little eater...not at all picky like his momma.

only a few more to go. applesauce, green beans, and butternut squash. and maybe some peaches, if i can find them.

ogden gardens

the weather today was just perfect for a picnic lunch and some strollin, so adam and i decided to take owen to ogden gardens. he loved being outdoors and wanted to get his hands on everything. (he loooooves plants, trees, and flowers...just like his daddy and grandpa scott.) he was also really intrigued by the pond, and just couldnt keep his eyes off the water. adam enjoyed the japanese garden. (although, he was a bit upset that there wasn't a tree peony.) and i loved taking pics of my two boys in the beautiful outdoor light. heres a few of my favorites...

...waited and waited in super loooooong lines. first for a bracelet. then to get the book. started in the late afternoon and went into the wee hours of the morning.

icky green peas

owen had tender sweet peas for the first time last night, and we got to see some pretty interesting faces...it was almost like he was trying to blow bubbles with his peas. he must have liked them cause he ate every last bite. i'll spare you the real gross and messy pics and just leave you with these two...


ok...so the second one is a little gross, but im thinking its still pretty cute.

owen goes bananas!

on monday night, owen tried his very first fruit...yummy chaquita bananas. he seemed to like them, but not nearly as much as those sweet potatoes. you could tell he thought the bananas were super SUPER tangy...everytime he took a spoonful, his nose would crinkle and his eyes would shut (or just one would sort of blink), his little lips would pucker, and his hands would go straight to his mouth. adam and i just laughed and laughed.

then on tuesday we gave him bananas for the second time, and it didnt seem to bother him one bit...he just couldn't get enough of them. lets hope all this sweetness doesn't spoil his appetite for peas and green beans!

24 weeks

the astaritas were here for a visit yesterday and we had such a fun time. the girls were soooo good with owen...holding and cuddling and playing with him. and they brought along another peekaboo flap book for owen...his favorite right now. (so very sweet of you.) hudson even got a bunch of attention, which i know he loooved! grandpa scott, grandma jan, and uncle jonah came along too. we had such a nice evening...thanks so much for the visit.

so owen had his very first (half) jar of baby food last night. tender golden sweet potatoes. and boy...did he love it! he was opening his mouth before we could even get the next spoonful ready. such a messy little eater.

23 weeks

heres a few pics of owen from his 23rd week...

the big lang family summer get together...

....was a total blast! we had soooooo much fun! kathy, cody, bella, and aidan were here visiting for over a week. then crystal, barry, and trevor came up for the weekend. grandma ann and grandpa glenn arrived for the entire summer. and we saw mom, dad, jamie, sean, hunter, hope, faith, and kenzie everyday. (douggie and mike- you were sadly missed.) we spent tons of time together...talking, laughing, swimming, shopping, bonfires, hayrides, cookouts, cornhole tournaments, and all three babies together for the very first time...so many great memories. i have lots and lots of pics to share. it will take me a few days to get to all of them, so keep checking. heres a few to start off with...

happy 4th of july

last night, grandma bonnie, adam and i took owen to see his first firework show. he was a bit scared at first, but after a few minutes he was hooked. his eyes stayed glued to the fireworks for the rest of the show. it was so fun to watch his reaction to all of the loud noises and bright colors. hope everyone had a fun filled and safe 4th of july.

22 weeks

so owen had quite the big day yesterday...three things to share.

first...yesterday morning, as owen was laying in his little sleeper talking to himself, he said the word "momma" for the very first time. it was so clear and perfect...made adam and i both smile. can't tell you how much i loved hearing it come from his sweet little lips. i know that he doesn't actually associate the word momma with me yet, but it was still sooooOOOO sweet to hear.

second...yesterday afternoon, owen went swimming for the very first time. adam took him in the big pool at grandma bonnies and he LOVED it. so much fun for him. and so much fun for us to watch. he was kicking his little legs and playing in the water. he was fascinated. will be doing this many more times, i'm sure. may even get a little pool for our backyard.

and third...last night owen had oatmeal cereal for the very first time. since he was doing so good with the rice cereal, we thought we'd give the oatmeal a try. and he gobbled it right up. we're not really sure if he liked it better or if hes just getting the hang of the whole spoon thing. we're moving right along...gonna get to those tiny baby jars soon.
