8 months already?!?

so this little monkey turned 8 months old today.

heres the update:
-hes rolling all around. from front to back and back to front. and is having so much fun with it.
-he smiles and laughs and gets really excited when he sees himslef in the mirror.
-he has learned how to push the little roll a rounds into the holes on his drop and roar dinosaur. (thanks to grandma bonnie.)
-he loves to play with his little doggie, hudson.
-he has waved 'bye bye' a few times.
-he reaches for you when he wants to be picked up. (really this one should have been on the 7 month list but i forgot.)
-hes likes to have little pieces of american cheese and real bananas.
-he loooooves to have juice in his sippy cup. (well...half juice, half water, really.)
-he likes to sleep on his side + is such a good little napper.
-he has started cuddling more when hes tired. he even rests his little head on my shoulder every once in awhile.
-hes still doing his little shakey thing when he gets excited.
-he loves to play with his blocks. i think they're his new favorite.
-hes not really a big fan of having his diaper changed anymore.
-he gets really frustrated when he cant get to something.
-hes trying sooooo hard to crawl and be mobile.
-he can spin all around in circles when hes sitting up and when hes on his belly.
-and he gives sweet little kisses...we think. we're not really sure if he intends to give kisses, but we like to think so.

...so i finally started working on owen's first scrapbook + thought i'd share a few of the completed pages. its a mini 8x8 album so its just going to hold all of my favorite photos from owen's first year. probably not a lot of journaling...just a quick, fun one.and thanks, jan, for the awesome album.

county line apple orchard

so this past sunday, as a treat for our birthday, grandma bonnie took us all (crystal, barry, trevor, lizzy, adam, owen, and i) to the county line apple orchard. (the same place where our wedding reception was held.) we had a great time taking the boys to the kid's farm and trying to find our way through this years alien themed corn maize. and i got lots of fun pics...
and a happy belated birthday to aunt crystal. she turned 23 this past monday.

"fun uncle" jonah + owen

we had such a fun time visiting with uncle jonah, grandma jan, and grandpa scott on grandparents day. we especially enjoyed watching grandma jan show up everyone on guitar hero. and i loved seeing adam ride around in jonah's mini corvette. as always, we had a wonderful day. and thanks to uncle jonah for the mixed cd.

and in other big news...yesterday, while owen was in pursuit of a water bottle, he rolled from from his back to his tummy for the very first time. hes been tyring for so long, but could never quite figure out a way to manuever his arm. way to go owen!

and yesterday was grandparents day....so special hugs and kisses to grandma bonnie + grandpa doug, grandma jan + grandpa scott, great grandma ann, and great grandma elene + great grandpa duane.

he thinks hes soooo funny

especially when he spits his food out all over the place.
all over him. (which is why he can no longer wear a shirt during his meals.)
all over his mommy and daddy. (anybody have any ideas for something that will keep us covered from head to toe?)
and all over his highchair. (thank goodness it wipes clean so easily.)

and we have a winner...

MISS LAURA BELLE got it right when she guessed five days old. your surprise from owen will be in the mail by the end of the week, girlie :) and thanks to everyone who played. it was so fun to see all of your guesses.

and in other news...this past sunday, mom, crystal, barry, trevor, douggie, adam, owen, and i headed out to west beach at the dunes to climb the boardwalk that adam has been working on for over a year now. we had a fun time, despite the fact that i was terrified that a snake was going to crawl out of the beach grass at any moment. i forgot the camera again, but douggie was there to take a few pics with his phone, which suprisingly turned out pretty good. (thanks, uncle douggie.) heres a few of owen playing in lake michigan for the first time...
